About Jonathan
Originally from San Francisco, Jonathan has over 20 years of digital experience in product management, product design, and practice leadership roles, as both a consultant and client. After spending the first decade of his career leading digital marketing initiatives for brands including Autodesk, Apple, Intel, Medtronic, Sprint and Visa, Jonathan lead enterprise strategy for healthcare brands including Covidien, Edwards Lifesciences, and Genentech, with his role alternating between business analyst, product lead, user experience designer and technical architect. In 2015, Jonathan joined the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco to lead digital transformation for their online and onsite experiences — including the marketing website, mobile app, in-gallery interpretation, wayfinding, and digital signage — becoming a vocal advocate for the design of accessible and inclusive digital experiences for all, regardless of age, ability, or native language.
From 2006-2012, Jonathan taught at Miami Ad School and California College of the Arts, introducing aspiring designers and writers to design thinking and agile methodologies within the framework of an advertising agency and/or startup environment. In 2018, Jonathan took a sabbatical from his technology career, teaching K-12 gifted education at the Nueva School in the San Francisco Bay Area, where design thinking, responsive teaching and diversity, equity and inclusion resided at the core of his pedagogy. Following a family move to Singapore in 2019, Jonathan taught General Assembly's User Experience Design Immersive bootcamp (2021-2022), where he expanded the UX curriculum with lessons on critical thinking, purpose, perseverance, and storytelling.
Currently, Jonathan is working as a startup advisor in the region (Singapore, Cambodia, and Indonesia), educating startup leadership on how decisions about brand (what we say), people (why we exist), and product (how we deliver value) can benefit from adopting design thinking practices and mindset coaching. He also continues to mentor young professionals and career changers as an ADP List mentor.
